The National development works well when it supports the objectives of the Government and reflects the national RDTL vision for development. Development must be driven from the bottom up, from rural areas, if it is to reach its objectives and have good outcomes. To promote self-sufficiency and happiness in collaboration with other innovative economic, political and cultural partners in Timor Leste.

In order to achieve this it is important to work together in a good and just way with all entities and organizations; Government, the Church and NGO, CBO communities and other groups present in society.

BPI is a non-governmental organization which aims to work together in goodwill with other partners in to fulfil its mission and vision which is to develop human resources in order to achieve the goal of national development: to ensure that the community is able to support itself in a sustainable manner and enjoy the reality of self-determination and independence, in particular in rural areas.

Considering the points above, BPI aims to implement mid and long-term activities defined in the Strategic Plan including: Agriculture, Advocacy, Livelihoods, Culture and Infrastructure. And to promote equality and a sustainable environment.

Definition of BPI

BPI an acronym of ‘Best Practice Institute' Strengthen Development Action, Education and the Rural Economy. (Ensure Ed-Training and Economic Development Action in Rural area).

21 July 2017: Founded by 10 members in Dili

27 September 2018: Registered in Dili with FONGTIL No. 814 (As a National NGO)

Brief History of BPI

The BPI(Best Practice Institute) such an NGO that is in capacity building covering areas of language introduction (English, Korean, Japanese, Portuguese and administration and finance courses), also strengthens and increase knowledge of agriculture, livestock production and fisheries.

The people have faced many challenges on their journey to live a good life. From generation to generation, colonialism and other evils invaded our culture, agriculture and our right to land. The challenges are many and the journey is not yet over as we strive to ‘Free the people’…

The presence of BPI in this context is to encourage and support communities in rural areas to develop themselves not only in communication language skill however is also through agriculture and advocacy, livelihood strategies, education and respect of culture and infrastructure projects. To promote equality and a sustainable environment.
